A paddling expedition that pushed off yesterday is celebrating the 100th birthday of the Superior National Forest and Quetico Provincial Park.

The Heart of the Continent Partnership, a coalition of stakeholder organizations within and surrounding Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario and the Superior National Forest in Minnesota, is organizing a canoe expedition across the region, featuring representatives of its agencies and organizations paddling a 24-foot voyageur canoe.

The expedition will include several celebratory events — including parties and parades — when the paddlers arrive at communities along the route.
