Duluth Mayor Don Ness and north shore business owners are spreading the word that it is safe to visit Duluth. A story on Minnesota Public Radio reports that restaurants and shops at Canal Park are open for business, as is much of the north shore after last week’s storms and flash flooding.

Still, it appears that tourism is down. Grandma’s Restaurant Company said business at its Canal Park location was down even though it was unaffected by flooding, and representatives from Visit Duluth said that check-ins were down by as much as 50% last weekend.

The dip is concerning, especially coming at the height of tourist season. But tourists who have made the trip report that in many ways you can’t tell just how bad the storm was. Read the full story on Minnesota Public Radio HERE.
