A number of secondary roads, trails, Boundary Waters portages, and campsites in the Superior National Forest remain blocked due to winter storm damage in mid-April.

According to U.S. Forest Service officials, crews have been working since the storm to clear debris. All major roads and key visitor access points have been reopened.

Workers are continuing to cut and remove trees and limbs from secondary roads, trails, campgrounds, and Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness portages. Officials caution that it could be several weeks before they can complete a full inventory and ensure that all routes and campsites are blockage-free.

Storm damage is most noticeable in the LaCroix Ranger district. The portion of the BWCAW south of the Echo Trail is located primarily in the LaCroix district.
