Quetico Named a Top World Destination

News, Parks & Regions

Quetico Provincial Park was named one of the world’s top 10 boating destinations by travel guide publisher Lonely Planet.

The Atikokan Progress reports on the story HERE.

The Canadian wilderness park that borders the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness was the sole North American venue on the listing which included the Amazon River; Disko Bay, Greenland; and the Greek Islands. The Fjords of Norway were named the world’s top boating destination.

Lonely Planet dubbed Quetico “Canada’s signature wilderness,” and praised its canoeing, camping, fishing, and wildlife-viewing. The listing, which was published last fall, can be found HERE.

Quetico’s superintendant, Robin Reilly, said in the Progress story that he only learned about the honor this summer after a group of paddlers from Quebec City brought the news to his attention.
