Vermilion Park Comment Period Ending

Park Management, State Parks

The initial opportunity for public input for Lake Vermilion State Park’s master plan will end on September 30, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reminding citizens.

The DNR is seeking early public input as part of its master planning process via a short questionnaire.

The questions ask what kinds of experiences and facilities Minnesotans would like to see in the state’s newest state park. The questionnaire includes 19 questions and takes roughly five-to-seven minutes to complete. Answers will be used by Minnestoa DNR staff and the park’s Citizens Advisory Committee to guide the master planning process.

You can find the questionnaire HERE.

A second public input opportunity will occur later this fall, when the DNR asks for public comments on its draft park master plan.

The Minnesota DNR says additional public comments and suggestions are welcome at any time during the master planning process by calling 651-259-5598.

Lake Vermilion State Park was established in the summer, when the state of Minnesota closed a 3,000-acre land transaction with U.S. Steel.

Find basic information on the park, HERE, on the DNR web site.
