Officials from Quetico Provincial Park and the town of Atikokan are considering a plan to move the Ontario park’s headquarters to Atikokan’s Main Street.

Quetico superintendent Robin Reilly thinks the move would better highlight Atikokan as the park’s “gateway community” and bring park visitors closer to Atikokan’s business district.  Currently, the park headquarters are located in the Ontario government offices on the edge of town.

Atikokan mayor Dennis Brown is behind the idea as well.  He told the Progess’ Michael McKinnon that a downtown park headquarters would fit nicely into Main Street reconstruction plans.
